A melanin medical doctor: Meet Daniel Onimisi Oyanna , an avid people blogger from Nigeria.

What exactly are you into? What is your business all about?

Professionally, I am a medical doctor with over 10 years of practice experience. I am also a Pastor and teacher of God’s word. My first ordination dates back to 1999.

Furthermore, I have been a relationship/marriage counselor since 1997. I have also been a public/conference speaker on subjects that pertain to all of the above since 2007.

I have been blogging on these and related matters for over 2 years now on pdlionunlimited.wordpress.com and, about a year ago, I activated my talent in the fine arts by delving into painting. In addition, I recently published my first book titled “To Date or Not to Date” and the global reception has been mind-blowing.

My business, if you call it that, is people. My drive is towards helping people become who God made them to be and to thrive in life by helping them get God involved in their daily affairs, and by inspiring or positively challenging them to be the best of themselves by constantly striving to be the best of my own self.

Please, can our readers get to know you?

I am Daniel Onimisi Oyanna. I’m 42 years old and a Christian by choice. I am married to Linda Oyanna and together we have three great boys. I hail from Igarra in Edo State of Nigeria but we are currently based in Katsina State, Nigeria.

What inspired you to get started?

Largely, it was the crushing need to make sense out of my own life at a time when going through the motions was no longer enough to give me the results I so desperately sought and the sense of fulfillment

I absolutely needed. I pressed into God and He helped me out by showing me the next thing to do and the next and the next … and step by step, here I am on the journey so far

What is your educational background?

I hold a Bachelor of Medicine – Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S) from the University of Benin. I graduated in 2004.

What are your motivations?

My main drive is from the knowledge of what God created me to be and do. I know that each one of us was put in this life to serve God and humanity by meeting a particular need for a particular people. Knowing that I am doing that daily, whether with one person at a time or with a large group per time, keeps me going.

My second driving force is my family. Everything I seek to be to the world, I seek to be first with my family. I want to be an authentic example they can relate to in their quest to be what God made them be. I would hate, my sons, in particular, to have me as the crippling excuse for not becoming as great as they were made to be. My wife is passionate about that too so we feed off each other’s passion in this regard.

My third engine is that I enjoy what I do and I make sure I enjoy what I do otherwise I would lose steam and interest. I love variety so I am into so many things and that keeps my life interesting.

What advice do you have for other people who want to do this same thing?

My advice would be for them to find their niches. Don’t try to be like someone else simply because that person seems successful. And when you do find your niche, do something about it. Think big, start small, act now.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I see myself further advanced in my medical career with globally recognized certifications that qualify me to do some things I cannot currently do.

I also anticipate having a stronger and wider reach via my various publications with greater measurable impact in terms of changed lives

Any present or future projects?

As I said, I just published a book. I have a few others on my table and I hope to see them published soon.

Are you Married or Single?

I am very happily married … 11 years and counting.

How can we readers connect with you on social media?

I am on a number of platforms. But I think the easiest would be via Facebook. I am available there as Pastor Daniel Oyanna.  At first glance, many do not know that I am a Medical doctor. I am proud to be one of the several melanin doctors on the planet.

What is your greatest accomplishment?

As a Doctor, I have quite successfully headed two government hospitals. As a writer, I have readers all over the world except on two continents. And as an author, I have just broken into the field. That has been really exciting but I really treasure being able to do all these and more while still being able to be there for my family steadily.
