Award-Winning Author and Speaker Debbie McKiver says health and writing is in her DNA.

What exactly are you into? What is your business all about?

I own a Holistic Health & Wellness Practice and I am also a writer.

Please, can our readers get to know you?

I am an Award-winning Author, Writer, Speaker, Certified Holistic Health Coach, Certified Gut Health SME, Certified Nutrition & Wellness Consultant & Corporate Wellness Advocate

What inspired you to get started?

As cliche as it may sound, it’s in my DNA; I’ve been claiming my future since I was 2 years of age. I’ve always been passionate about health and writing. Although shy I also loved to talk (to people whom I knew) and I always stuck up for people who were being bullied or treated unkindly.

What is your educational background?

I am a 1996 graduate of the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business and a 2016 graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

Also received my Nutrition & Wellness Certification from the AFPA in 2009 & my Gut Health Certification from IIN in 2018.

What are your motivations?

I am motivated by the people I inspire and the ones whom I feel that I can serve.

What advice do you have for other people who want to do this same thing?

Don’t ever give up! Coca-Cola only sold 25 bottles their first year in business. Just trust the process. It’s hard, but trust it anyway.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

On the NYT Best-Selling Author’s list, and serving high-end clients from my yacht.

Any present or future projects?

Yes. I am always working on books. I have a new series called Myra Kemp. The first installment from that series was released on August 30th, my 4th overall release.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve experienced in your business as a person of color?

My biggest challenge is not being supported by other people of color, and consistently having people question pricing. I’ve come to realize that if someone cannot pay my rates, those are NOT my clients.

Are you Married or Single?

Single but not necessarily on the market

How can we connect with you on social media?

You can follow me on Instagram and Twitter – @muryahu or on Facebook via my Health & Wellness page – Strong and Healthy Temple.

I also have a website – www.debbiemckiver.com

What is your greatest accomplishment?

Finally having the courage to walk away from Corporate America cold-turkey, and believing enough in myself to fulfill my own dreams, not someone else’s.

As a person of color, what advice will you give someone starting their own business or career?

You don’t have to leave your full-time job to get started. In fact, you can use their capital to fund your startup instead of borrowing (going into debt) or seeking investors.
