No matter what life’s trials are, you can survive & thrive. I am a life strategist coach for women who are ready to unpack their limited beliefs, gain clarity about their goals, and take strategic and intentional actions for their life. Like you, I had to overcome life-altering losses and changes of my own.
As a child, witnessing domestic violence affected my self-esteem and perspective. My childhood had many trials and traumas like ongoing fights at home, bullying at school, watching a loved one being murdered, to dropping out of high school, becoming a teen mom, and homelessness all by the age of 25 years old. I lost myself.
I felt there was no escape and I started to believe I wasn’t worthy. Statistics show 50% of children who witness childhood domestic violence are associated with adult depression, trauma-related symptoms, struggle with self-image, relationships, and having low self esteems.

2. What is your business all about?
As a life strategist, I advocate, assist, and equip women dealing with major life transitions. My business, Thrive Coaching Services, was founded in 2017.
I work with women that need help figuring out how to move forward with life, who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and looking for a shift in their career or a change of location as a few examples. We all know a sudden change in location is enough to bring any of us to our knees. Are you clear on a vision for life but don’t quite know how to get there? 3. What inspired you to get started?
Well, I contribute my life experience as confirmation for me to be a life strategist. My career for almost a decade has been as an executive management professional, and I found myself coaching quite often on the job. This just again confirmed my God-given purpose and passion in life: to teach, empower, and assist women thrive in life.
4. What is your educational background?
In addition to life experience, I am a certified personal life coach and hold a Bachelor of Science from DeVry University in business management. I am currently pursuing her master’s degree in Christian studies.
5. What are your motivations?
Several things motivate me such as a passion to live my best life, or constantly learning new things. I would have to say the biggest motivation is my Family. They are my biggest source of inspiration and my strongest critic and supporters. My husband and children give me the drive to be a be better individual and inspiration. This excites me to take greater challenges and risks without the fear of failure or letting them down.
6. What advice do you have for other people who want to do this same thing?
a. Bring in all your other expertise, personality, strengths, experience, and skill, and use them to build your business.
b. Get specific about who you work with and what problem you solve for them.
c. Collaborate: Work with someone who knows the industry and can help you fast track your success. You don’t have to spend years struggling to figure it out.
7. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Well in 5 years, my husband and I will be true empty nesters.
8. Any present or future projects?
I am working on projects advocating awareness for childhood domestic violence.
9. What is the biggest challenge you’ve experienced in your business as a person of color?
Because of my position and my background, I encounter my peers being most surprised! They are surprised that I am a person of color, a woman in authority, and is analytical, academic, emotionally intelligent, and equally objective of my diverse counterparts. I use to have people say to me “Reva, I just don’t think of you as a black woman,” and I always respond, “Wow, really? That’s so strange, because that’s all I’ve ever been, and how I think of myself.”
